If you don't have JRE installed Download Java Run Time

STEP 3 :
Download and install DDPB (Dau Den PlayBook Installer) this software helps us to install the Android app player from the Computer to your Playbook. Download DDPB Installer

STEP 4 :
Set your playbook in development mode :
Goto Playbook settings > Scroll down and select "Security" > Select "Development Mode" and turn it on, You will be asked to enter a password, make sure you remember this password (Very Important)

You will see the developer mode icon next to the orientation lock icon just below the top bezel. Select the icon which looks like a person, and make a note of your Playbook's IP address.

FINAL STEP :

Connect your Playbook to your computer using the USB cable or Wi-Fi, When DDPB is open it will ask you for the PlayBook IP address and Password Enter those information.

Then use the ADD option find "sys.android file" select it and then click install. Once the installation is complete you can disconnect your PB from the computer and also exit the developer mode.

  4. I hope you've not updated your Playbook Software to v.1.0.7.2942, if you've updated then Android Player wont work.

Its a simple issue actually which I myself came accross while installing Android Player, make sure you enter your playbook ip address and development mode password correctly into DDPB installer. This should do the trick.

  5. i got my palybook only yesterday and have no option but to install the update.. :( any work around... ? thanks in advance

  6. @Nas156 I feel Rim has released the new update so that it can kill the existing App Player, So right now there is nothing we can do about it in your case. Well there is a rumour that the app player will be officially released with software update 2.0, we are all waiting for it.

  7. i installed it but when trying to open it on the playbook it crushes

  8. Android App Player is not working after the latest Playbook software update v.1.0.7.2942. Go to software updates and check which software version is updated in your playbook.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Is there a way to revert back to an earlier OS Version of the Playbook?

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'm afraid there is no way we can revert back to an earlier OS version.

    ReplyDelete
  11. when do you think the new version will be out to accomodate v.1.0.7.2942 ?

    ReplyDelete
  12. I don't think there will be an Android Player for v.1.0.7.2942 as the official Android Player is set to be launched by RIM after Dev Con i.e, October 20th. So we can expect software version 2.0 and the Android Player in October.

  13. If you are running 64-bit windows, you will need to download 64-bit JRE.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Ya Kurt you are right, but people mostly use the 32 bit version.

  49. thanks for your reply.did u have any idea when it will be ready for android market

    1. Every time RIM releases an OS update the block all features that they think is illegal. So it will take some time to release the dingleberry update :)

  50. dear Gree,is there any other opion for Android market, basecause i seen in net , they are using android market on play book. how is possibile ?

    ReplyDelete

    1. They all have the rooted playbook, and have installed a honeycomb launcher. But trust me not apps work. If you test like 100 apps 1 might work,so I personally don't prefer android market. Just try playbookbars.com you get a list of working apps then just sideload them.
